Headpin keeps your bowling scores on your own device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no server holding your games.

Privacy

What stays on your device

Everything you enter. Sessions, games, frames, shots, your arsenal, spare lines, oil patterns, lane notes and your settings are written to IndexedDB in your browser. They stay on that device until you delete them or the browser clears its storage.

Headpin does not ask for an account, an email address or a name. It does not use cookies to track you, and it runs no analytics or advertising scripts. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

What does leave your device

Being honest about the exceptions matters more than the claim, so here they all are:

• Hosting. The site is served by Vercel. Like any web host, its servers record ordinary request logs, which include IP addresses. Once the app is installed it runs from your device's cache, so it usually only contacts the host to check for an update.
• Feedback. "Send feedback" opens a draft email to hello@headpin.app in your own mail app. Headpin fills the body with your app version, install mode and how many rows are in each table, and puts the same text on your clipboard. It never includes your scores or the names of the places you bowl, it sends nothing by itself, and the draft sits in your mail app until you send it. If you do send it, I see your email address, because that is how email works.
• Ball images. Pictures in the ball catalog may be loaded from the address they are published at, which tells that host your browser requested an image.
• Outbound links. Links to manufacturer pages and to "Buy me a coffee" take you to sites with their own policies.

Headpin is not directed at children under 13. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Your data and backups

Browser storage is not permanent. A browser can clear it when the device runs low on space, and it is erased if you clear site data, uninstall the app, or use private browsing. Headpin asks the browser to keep its storage persistent, but browsers are free to say no.

There is no copy of your scores anywhere else, and no way for anyone to restore them. Export a backup regularly from Settings, and keep the file somewhere you would keep a photo you care about.

Ball names, images and trademarks

Headpin's ball catalog lists equipment by its real name so you can find the ball you actually throw. Ball names, brand names, logos and product images are the property of their respective owners, and are used here to identify those products.

Headpin is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to any ball manufacturer, any bowling centre, the United States Bowling Congress, or any other bowling organisation. Oil pattern names are likewise used only to identify the patterns.

If you own a mark or an image here and would like it changed or removed, get in touch and I will do it.

Terms of use

Headpin is provided free of charge and as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It is a score keeper, not a system of record. Scores, averages and statistics it shows are for your own use, and are not certified or sanctioned by any league or governing body.

To the fullest extent the law allows, I am not liable for any loss or damage arising from using Headpin, including lost or corrupted data. Your remedy, if the app does not suit you, is to stop using it.

Do not use Headpin to break the law, and do not try to interfere with the site or with other people's use of it. These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did.
